KeepUp Privacy Policy
KeepUp is designed to help college students organize daily life and receive academic coaching while minimizing the information kept on its servers.
Plain-language summary
- Your planner, chores, shopping list, schedule, profile, and learning history are stored on your iPhone.
- KeepUp sends schoolwork, planning context, or a check-in message off-device only when you request an AI feature.
- KeepUp does not sell personal information, display third-party advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
- You can use a private on-device workspace without an account. Protected online AI requires Sign in with Apple.

1. Who provides KeepUp
KeepUp is provided by Edward Bloomfield. In this policy, “KeepUp,” “we,” and “us” refer to the KeepUp app and its supporting service.
2. Information stored on your device
KeepUp stores the information you enter for your private workspace on the device, including your first name, school, major or program, study goal, assignments, tasks, chores, shopping items, class schedule, study preferences, saved learning progress, daily briefings, and recent day-check-in conversation. The app stores its signed account session in the iPhone Keychain.
Camera scans and selected photos are processed on the device to recognize text. KeepUp does not upload the original photo merely because you scan it. Recognized text is transmitted only if you later request an AI feature using that text.
3. Information processed off-device
Sign in with Apple
When you sign in, Apple provides KeepUp with a signed user identifier and may provide your name and email address, depending on the choices you make in Apple’s sign-in sheet. KeepUp sends the signed credential to its backend to verify the account and issue a secure KeepUp session.
If you choose Explore on this device, KeepUp does not create an account or send an Apple identity to its backend. Your local planner, school, life, scanning, reminders, and offline helpers remain available. Protected online AI and server-backed account deletion remain unavailable until you sign in with Apple.
AI requests
When you request Assignment Helper, a study plan, a daily briefing, or a response about your day, KeepUp sends the information needed for that request to its backend. Depending on the feature, this may include assignment directions, your draft or notes, course and assignment names, your first name and profile context, tasks, chores, schedule details, your check-in message, and a limited recent conversation history. The backend sends the request to OpenAI to generate the requested response.
Technical and security information
KeepUp sends an app-install identifier, authentication information, app version, and ordinary network information needed to operate and protect the service. For supported Apple devices, App Attest also provides a cryptographic key identifier, an Apple attestation receipt, signed request assertions, and a monotonic security counter. These values verify that protected AI requests come from a legitimate KeepUp installation and prevent replay attacks. The hosting provider may process IP addresses and operational logs. KeepUp uses account-based and installation-based identifiers for authentication, security, abuse prevention, and daily usage limits—not for advertising or cross-app tracking.
4. How information is used
- Authenticate the user and protect access to AI features.

- Personalize responses using the context the user has chosen to provide.
- Prevent abuse, enforce usage limits, diagnose failures, and protect service availability.
- Respond to support and privacy requests.
5. Service providers
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, App Attest, and iOS platform services.
- OpenAI processes AI prompts and responses. KeepUp requests that Responses API results are not stored as application state by setting
store: false. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train models by default unless the API customer opts in. OpenAI may retain prompts, responses, and related metadata in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, unless a different approved data-retention control applies. - Render hosts the KeepUp backend and may process ordinary infrastructure and security logs needed to operate the service.
These providers process information to supply their services under their own contractual and privacy obligations. KeepUp does not share personal information with data brokers or advertising networks.
6. Retention
The KeepUp backend does not use a persistent user-profile, schoolwork, or conversation database. Assignment text, check-in messages, and AI responses are not intentionally saved by KeepUp after the request finishes. Signed KeepUp sessions expire automatically. To protect the service, KeepUp persistently stores the account-linked App Attest key identifier, public verification key, Apple receipt, latest assertion counter, environment, and daily quota counters. One-time challenges expire within minutes. These security records remain until account deletion or until they are no longer needed for security and abuse prevention. After deletion, KeepUp retains only a one-way hash of the former account identifier so already-issued session tokens remain revoked after a server restart; that revocation marker is cleared if the person later reauthorizes KeepUp with Apple. Information saved on your iPhone remains until you edit it, clear it, reset it, delete your account, or remove the app.
Service providers may retain limited information under their own security and legal requirements. OpenAI’s default API abuse-monitoring retention is described above. Hosting infrastructure may retain operational logs under its service settings.
7. Account deletion
Open Today → profile icon → KeepUp account → Delete KeepUp account. KeepUp asks you to confirm with Apple, revokes the Sign in with Apple authorization through Apple’s server API, invalidates the KeepUp session, removes App Attest and quota security records associated with the account, clears the on-device KeepUp workspace and Keychain session, and removes pending KeepUp notifications.
An on-device workspace that has never signed in has no KeepUp server account to delete. Its information can be cleared with the in-app reset controls or by removing the app.
If deletion cannot be completed, KeepUp leaves the local account data in place and displays an error so you can retry or contact support.
8. Security
KeepUp uses HTTPS, Apple-signed identity verification, App Attest assertions bound to each protected AI request, one-time challenges, replay counters, iPhone Keychain storage, persistent request limits, and provider secret managers. No internet service can promise perfect security, but KeepUp limits collection and does not include advertising or tracking SDKs.
9. Students and children
KeepUp is designed for college students and young adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Your choices
You can edit your profile, turn learning personalization off, reset learning memory, sign out, or delete the account inside the app. You may also contact us to ask a privacy question or report a problem.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when KeepUp’s features, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top will be updated, and material changes will be reflected in the app or App Store listing as appropriate.
